CONSTANCE BACHMANN was born in 1963 and grew up in the Okanagan region of British Columbia, Canada. She attended fine art programs at Langara College in Vancouver and the Okanagan College in Kelowna in the early eighties and began painting professionally in 1994, showing her work in Vancouver where she lived at the time before returning to the Okanagan in 1996.

Bachmann soon gave up the brush and developed a unique and innovative use of the palette knife which gives her paintings the original style which is very much her own. Her combination of rich color and texture has given her work the reputation of being both bold and exciting. She is best known for her architecturally inspired still life paintings but is also drawn to abstract shapes for inspiration as reflected in her poppy and greyhound series.

"Although I am a minimalism and abstract fanatic, I continually search for subject matters that reflect this and are inspiring to me while being able to work within controlled spaces and compositions. This allows me to make use of texture and color of which the latter I find so inspiring, to create the style I have developed over the years".

As a true artist, Bachmann is continually evolving and experimenting yet the integrity and essence of her work remains a constant, catching the eye of private collectors throughout North America and Europe.
