Merv Brandel (1948 – Oct 2020): Merv’s journey has come to an end five years after he received a serious cancer diagnosis. Throughout those five years he carried on, undeterred, in his studio and with his life. The universally restorative spirit of his paintings continued to shine through. The one big change after his diagnosis, as recounted by his wife Dawne in his newspaper obituary, was that this motorcycle-loving man finally realized his dream of buying a Harley.
We were fortunate to have seen Merv one last time in the summer of 2020 when he and Dawne visited the gallery just prior to a surgery. He looked remarkably hale, despite his understandable worries about the procedure. This kind person was always a joy to work with over the years and he will be missed. Our sincere condolences to Dawne and family.
