This duo appear in many of my paintings of the comings and goings
in the Allen's chicken run on Green Mountain Road out to the west
of Penticton, B.C. The old oil drum serves well as a composition and
colour prop to decorate my stage. I like to paint them and often wonder
what they think about -- or whether they think. They are not as patient as
the oil drum which would just sit patiently for ever and ever waiting
to be drawn, filmed or painted. Roosters are in constant motion if in a group
-- they do "show off" pose from time to time. This painting seems to show
them doing the protector thing and perhaps wondering about my intentions.
