"Domestic," by Christopher Walker
24 x 36 - acrylic
$8500 Framed
The
subject is a domesticated wolf named Sirus, a local icon in his
Vancouver Island community. The artist was influenced by Alex
Colville's painting "Dog and Bridge" (1976), which depicted a
dog with an enigmatic expression creating a feeling of tension.
Walker says he was struck by Colville's attempt "to leave the
viewer somewhat uneasy yet intrigued at the same time. Here, the
reflection of the moon was intended to create an interface
between the wolf's domestication and yearning for freedom." |
