Merv Brandel (1948-October 2020)
Merv Brandel, born in Kelowna, BC, on November 25, 1948, was a celebrated Canadian artist known for his incredible photo-realism. He graduated from the Alberta College of Art in 1973 with a diploma in Commercial Art and Advertising. Merv worked as a commercial illustrator for 11 years, operating a successful business specializing in illustrations for architects and developers.
In 1984, Merv transitioned to painting full-time, quickly gaining recognition for his unique ability to capture the life and essence of his subjects. His work is characterized by its remarkable realism, bringing scenes to life with meticulous detail and vibrant energy. Merv’s paintings have been exhibited in numerous galleries across British Columbia, Alberta, and beyond, becoming part of several prestigious corporate collections.
