Geoff Searle is a Canadian ceramic artist based in the Fraser Valley, British Columbia. Working since 1972, he creates handcrafted stoneware, porcelain, raku, and pit-fired pottery. His work is known for lustrous satin finishes, rich natural tones, delicate carved bamboo accents, and precise symmetrical forms. Collectors around the world value Searle’s ceramics for their technical mastery, unique textures, and expressive surfaces.
Searle’s pit-fired process begins with hand-built pots polished to a satin smooth finish. After an initial firing, each piece is wrapped with organic materials and metallic salts and fired in a ground pit, creating unique patterns, colours, and textures. This technique, combined with his mastery of raku and stoneware, produces one-of-a-kind ceramic sculptures and vessels that reflect both tradition and contemporary artistry.
His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and Searle is recognized for his skill as a workshop teacher and mentor in clay, glazes, kiln-building, and pit-firing techniques. Collectors and enthusiasts alike are drawn to the vibrant surfaces, organic forms, and handcrafted quality of his pieces.
Geoff Searle’s original ceramics are available for purchase online or in person at White Rock Gallery. Collectors are welcome to contact the gallery for pricing, availability, or any questions about these unique works.
